Dear friends,
In our last report, we shared our 2020 challenges and results, mentioning all the actions we took to cope with Covid's consequences, especially in the most impoverished.
From the study and evaluation of our scholarship recipients, we were able to determine that in the context of a pandemic, our scholarship not only helped the purchase of supplies and photocopies but also allowed our students to afford internet access to continue with their distance learning and even to buy food in the most vulnerable cases.
In this first half of the year, our main objective was to ensure that all students in our program continue studying, whether the epidemiological situation allowed face-to-face education or online schooling in the regions that experienced an increase in cases. Proudly, we can say that 94% of our program students renewed their scholarship, meaning that the vast majority of those we accompanied last year were able to maintain their commitment to the program and contact with the school.
Also, we incorporated almost 800 new students into our scholarship program and we look forward to exceeding that number in the following weeks. With this, we have doubled the number of students we accompany during 2020, reaching new locations and public schools. Most of the newly incorporated are in their first or second year of high school, this represents a big challenge because it means that, in most cases, they don't know their classmates or schools in person. Therefore, it is essential to work on adaptation to the high school level and peer support.
In this second half of the year, we aim to keep up on accompanying young students ensuring they keep on studying and bringing closer to them more and better opportunities for their future.
We want to especially thank each one of you for your support. Thanks to you we can give more students a chance.
Best regards,
Cimientos Team
