Project Closure Report

This report confirms that the project has been officially closed following the merger of the foundation’s agroecological market, Sembrando Confianza, with the larger agroecological market La Canasta in Bogotá.

While the original fundraising goal of USD 60,000 was not reached, part of the project objectives were successfully implemented using the foundation’s own funds and the resources generated through the Sembrando Confianza market activities.

Approximately 3,500 food and hygiene kits were distributed to vulnerable populations in the outskirts of Bogotá.

The project was designed to respond to the economic crisis affecting thousands of low-income families in Bogotá. Many households were facing severe food insecurity and limited access to basic hygiene products.

The initial objective was to:

  • Support 5,000 individuals
  • Distribute food baskets containing nutritious, locally sourced products
  • Provide hygiene supplies, including menstrual health products
  • Deliver environmental education and menstrual health workshops
  • Promote sustainable agriculture and community self-sufficiency

Despite limited external funding, the foundation mobilized internal resources and revenue generated through Sembrando Confianza to carry out a significant portion of the planned activities.

Key results:

  • Approximately 3,500 food and hygiene kits distributed
  • Distribution of both non-perishable and fresh food products
  • Inclusion of hygiene items, with menstrual health support integrated into activities
  • Community outreach promoting sustainable agricultural practices
  • Educational components delivered alongside kit distribution

Although the initial target of 5,000 beneficiaries was not fully reached, the project achieved substantial impact within the foundation’s financial capacity.

During the project period, the foundation’s agroecological market Sembrando Confianza merged with La Canasta, a larger agroecological market in Bogotá.

This strategic merger aimed to:

  • Strengthen operational sustainability
  • Expand access to broader distribution networks
  • Consolidate resources
  • Increase long-term impact capacity

As a result of this organizational restructuring, the project was formally closed and its remaining objectives integrated into the broader activities and strategy of the merged market structure.

Although the project has been closed, its core mission continues through the strengthened agroecological ecosystem created by the merger.

The initiative contributed to:

  • Improved food access for vulnerable families
  • Support for local agroecological producers
  • Increased awareness of sustainable farming practices
  • Promotion of menstrual health education
  • Strengthening of community-based food systems

The merger represents a structural evolution rather than a termination of impact. The foundation’s work continues under a more integrated and sustainable framework.
