Project Report | Jul 2, 2026
Lebanon Relief Update 2026

By Beatrice Parmigiani | Project Coordinator

Following the emergency campaign launched in March 2026 to tackle the severe humanitarian crisis in Lebanon, Mission Bambini, in close partnership with local organization Annas Linnas, has successfully moved from immediate mobilization to targeted field execution. While the initial appeal focused on mapping the desperate needs of thousands of families fleeing air strikes from the South , this progress report highlights the concrete actions and figures achieved during the initial phase of the intervention across the designated regions.

The crisis had left families displaced in Beirut, Zahle, and Mount Lebanon entirely depleted of basic sanitation, cooking facilities, and proper bedding. In response, the multi-sectoral aid program has established a structured relief pipeline to restore immediate dignity and safety to the affected populations.

Emergency Relief and Food Security

In Beirut, where the initial assessment identified a severe food security gap , the project successfully launched the "Dignity Plate" initiative.

  •  Hot Meal Distribution: The program has scaled up to provide 250 daily hot meals to displaced individuals during this initial stage.

  •  Targeted Food Aid: In specific sectors of Beirut, the team distributed complete Suhoor meals ensuring nutritional support for 100 displaced people.

  •  Essential Supplies: Alongside food, distributions in Achrafieh, Naameh, and critical points in Mount Lebanon were executed to deliver vital medicines, clothing, mattresses, blankets, and hygiene kits (including diapers and wipes).

Educational Continuity and Institutional Support

While public schools across the target regions were heavily disrupted or transformed into temporary reception centers , a major milestone of this operational phase was preserving the right to education for vulnerable children. Interventions heavily concentrated on the Beit Al-Mahabba School in Naameh:

  •  Teacher Subsidies: To prevent the collapse of the local educational framework, direct economic support of $150 each was granted to 24 local teachers.

  •  Student Return: This critical funding allowed 105 students (out of the school's total pool of 120 vulnerable Lebanese and Syrian refugee children) to safely resume their lessons and restore a sense of stability amidst the conflict.

Strategic Impact and Next Steps

The preliminary outcomes confirm that combining material relief with structured institutional aid has effectively prevented immediate starvation and minimized educational gaps for the younger beneficiaries. By strengthening the response capacity of Annas Linnas on the ground , the intervention is actively building a resilient support system within the LEARN Network, moving beyond simple charity into structured community protection.

As the project progresses through its 4-month timeline, future activities will continue to scale up food production, while gradually integrating much-needed hygiene education, cultural-recreational activities, and training sessions for both parents and teachers to sustain long-term psychological resilience.
