Drought Relief for Somali Families (Project #75200)
We sincerely thank everyone who has supported Drought Relief for Somali Families. Although we are still in the early stages of fundraising, your generosity is helping us prepare for a rapid humanitarian response while continuing to respond to urgent humanitarian needs where resources allow.
Emergency Water Supply for Vulnerable Communities – Baidoa
As part of our ongoing emergency response to the drought crisis, Talobeeg Foundation recently delivered clean and safe water to vulnerable families living on the outskirts of Baidoa, Southwest State of Somalia.
For many households living in internally displaced persons (IDP) camps and surrounding communities, access to safe water remains a daily struggle. Women, children, and elderly people often spend hours searching for water for drinking, cooking, and basic household needs.
Through our emergency Water Trucking Response, safe water was delivered to the following communities:
Isha Baidoa Village
Howlwadaag Village
Kaamka Santuur IDP Camp
Gala Arow IDP Camp
Gerdiile IDP Camp
Wayamo Gubey 1 & 2 IDP Camps
This emergency intervention reached approximately 800 people, providing safe water for drinking, cooking, and daily household use. While this response provided immediate relief, it also highlighted the urgent need for long-term investment in sustainable water systems and resilient infrastructure to reduce communities' vulnerability to recurring droughts.
The drought continues to affect vulnerable pastoral and agro-pastoral communities across Somalia, particularly in Puntland's Sanaag, Bari, and Nugaal regions, where many families continue to face severe water shortages, declining livestock productivity, rising food prices, and reduced household incomes. Children, pregnant women, and elderly people remain among those most at risk of food insecurity and malnutrition.
Over the past three months, Talobeeg Foundation has continued monitoring conditions through our local networks and coordination with community leaders and humanitarian partners. We have refined beneficiary selection criteria, updated response planning, and identified priority communities where assistance can be delivered quickly once additional funding becomes available.
Our planned response remains focused on:
Providing emergency food or cash assistance to the most vulnerable households.
Supporting access to safe water for drought-affected communities.
Protecting pastoral livelihoods through targeted livestock support where feasible.
Conducting nutrition screening and referrals for children and pregnant or lactating women.
Every contribution received brings us closer to expanding these life-saving interventions. Early donations also help demonstrate public confidence in our work, enabling us to leverage additional partnerships and funding opportunities.
We are deeply grateful to our first supporters for believing in this mission. Your generosity is helping us respond to immediate humanitarian needs while building a stronger, more resilient response for drought-affected communities across Somalia.
As fundraising continues, we encourage you to share this project with your family, friends, and professional networks. Together, we can reach more vulnerable Somali families before the drought crisis worsens.
Thank you for standing with Somalia's most vulnerable communities.
