Project Report | Aug 3, 2021
Update: August 2021

By Alen Toric | Founder

Dear donor,

We are delighted to advise you that, thanks to all the support, we have reached hundreds of children and families in the first half of this year. The pandemic has created a lot of uncertainty and difficulties for many families. Parents, teachers and school management are very grateful for all the help.

We spoke to Armin Hrustic, Principal of Podorašje primary school, and we are happy to share his reaction:

“On behalf of the students, their families and myself, I would like to thank you for all the support you have given us. The first semester ended a few days ago at our school and I have to say that it was a big challenge to organize the classes in the current circumstances. It was new for everyone, there were a lot of challenges that we had to adapt to. It was challenging, but we managed to complete the lessons without contamination among our students. Thanks to your organization, we have been able to bring joy into the homes of our students and show that they are not alone in this difficult time. Thanks again for everything everyone is doing for the children in Bosnia and Herzegovina, and I wish you the best of luck.”

Since the beginning of this year, we have raised funds for the following initiatives:

  • Food parcels for 128 families
  • Lunch at school for 394 children (for school year 2021/2022)
  • School books for 6 children (for school year 2021/2022)

Food parcels
This year too, there is a great need for food parcels. Since the start of the pandemic, we have been supporting families of children living in poverty with food parcels at home. Thanks to your help, we have made the following deliveries:

  • 23 food parcels for primary school Kiseljak in Kiseljak
  • 22 food parcels for Srednje primary school in Ilijaš
  • 24 food parcels for Podorašje primary school in Srebrenik
  • 27 food parcels for Miroslav Krleza primary school in Zenica
  • 30 food parcels for primary school Zahid Barucija in Vogošca

Lunch at school
During the 2020/2021 school year, we supported 256 children with lunch at school. We have provided a daily lunch for:

  • 32 children at Podorašje primary school in Srebrenik
  • 42 children at Zahid Barucija primary school in Vogošca
  • 23 children at Izet Šabic primary school in Hotonj
  • 71 children at Musa Cazim Catic primary school in Zenica
  • 50 children at Mak Dizdar primary school in Zenica
  • 38 children at Miroslav Kreleza primary school in Zenica

In some schools, the lessons were given in combined groups. To reduce the risk of contamination, older children received online lessons, which ultimately resulted in fewer lunches being delivered. These lunches will be delivered in the new school year.

We are happy to report that we will be able to help even more children in the new year. With this year's fundraiser, we raised enough for 394 children. In consultation with the schools, we distribute these funds in August, so that delivery can start in September.

School books
In the current school year we have provided 30 children with school books. All textbooks have now been returned to the school library. In the new school year, these are again lent to the children who need them.
With the collected money we can provide 6 children with school books in the new school year. The need for textbooks is still very great. You can still participate in this initiative and thus contribute to the education of children growing up in poverty.

Thank you for supporting the children in Bosnia and Herzegovina! If you have any questions or comments, please contact us.

Sincerely,
Almasa, Alma, Alen and Ermina
