By New Generation Burundi | Relations & Communications Officer
Joëlla, a 20-year-old Year 11 student specializing in Languages, has successfully completed her academic year and started a new school year this September 2025. The year 2024-2025 was marked by a positive transition to a new school, where she was able to fully immerse herself in her passion for languages. She also received all essential school supplies, which contributed to her success. Joëlla's primary challenge was quickly adapting to her new environment.
She is very appreciative of the support from New Generation, which has consistently met her essential needs. Joëlla has been a part of the New Generation family for ten years, initially learning about the organization through friends who shared how it supported them with food, school fees, and supplies. Her mother met with the person in charge, and Joëlla began attending holiday mentoring sessions and receiving regular meals. New Generation later took on the responsibility of her school fees and supplies, officially welcoming her into the organization.
Looking to the future, Joëlla has two main aspirations. First, she plans to become an entrepreneur in agriculture and livestock. She envisions managing extensive fields and creating employment opportunities for others by allowing them to cultivate her land. Second, she aims to establish a cooperative. This cooperative would not only provide jobs but also educate less fortunate families, particularly widows, on essential life skills such as managing finances, living with dignity, and effectively raising their children. Her goal is to ensure that every child is well-educated, protected, and never abandoned.
We are incredibly grateful for your support. Through Street Action, your donations give street-connected children in Burundi a chance at a new life and the freedom to dream. A huge thank you to everyone who has contributed!
