Dear friends, donors, and interested people,
In our previous report we mentioned the breakfast club project, since then it has been going well. Having a nutritious, hearty, energy-providing meal given to the children at the start of the school day means they are able to focus on learning and developing both socially and academically. Furthermore, having meals provided encourages attendance more than having just education as motivation, which is less compelling especially for younger children who can't comprehend the benefit of education.
At our pre-school we provide balanced, varied, and nutrient dense meals consiting of ingredients like chicken, vegetables such as onions and other affordable in bulk items, fortified grains which help to provide vitamins and minerals at a low cost, and a guaranteed portion of fruit every day to keep their immunie systems as healthy as possible. Having food security also enables the children to participate in extra-curricular sport activities such as rugby practice, helping them to develop socially and physically as well as academically.
Thank you for taking the time to engage with this report.
