For $10, Empower Girls in Slums for Self-Reliance

By Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri | Project Leader

Dear Friends and Supporters,

We appreciate your interest in our project, For $10, Empower Girls in Slums for Self-Reliance. At this stage, we have not received any donations yet, so activities have not started. However, the need for this project grows stronger each day as we see the struggles of young girls in Nigeria’s urban slums.

Many girls in poor communities are trapped in a cycle of poverty and hardship. Some have dropped out of school because their families cannot afford fees, books, or uniforms. Others face early pregnancy or are forced into marriage at a young age. Many girls in flood-affected and overcrowded areas also deal with hunger, unsafe living conditions, and poor health care. In these places, daily survival is hard, and dreams of education often fade away.

This project is designed to give these girls simple skills they can use to earn a living and care for themselves. We plan to train 1,100 girls in tailoring, soap-making, reusable sanitary pad production, and petty trade. These skills will help them earn small but steady income to meet their needs such as paying school fees, buying medicine, and supporting their families.

We believe that with time and the right support, these girls can rise above their current struggles. For now, we are ready to start as soon as donations begin to come in.

To our future donors, your $10 can give one girl a chance to stand on her own and build a better future, one skill at a time.

Kind regards,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
