Kigezi Healthcare Foundation organized a residential camp for 11 teenage girls to equip them with additional knowledge that they may not easily get in their respective schools of learning. Young girls risk getting married off in rural communities and the urban poor communities in low income countries. In most of these communities, boys are being sent to school and girls are kept at home to cook, collect firewood, and take care of the younger siblings. When girls are in school, they are often regarded as children not ready for marriage. Every year the level of education attained reduces the likelihood of girls marrying and being married. Kigezi Healthcare Foundation organized a one-week retreat for teenage girls who returned from boarding schools for the first term holidays. This was intended to give them extra skills and knowledge about cooking, Hygiene and how to manage transition from teenage to an adult as the approach 18 years. They were also educated about the risks of interacting with strangers, human trafficking and bad groups associated with drug use. We thank our partners and dedicated donors who donate monthly to achieve our goals. We are reaching out to 1.000 people to donate 10 dollars every month to help run our program with minimum interruption. Please reach out to as many friends as possible so that we can support more children.
