Forests4Water Brazil: Community Climate Action

Hello, family,

I’m George. I live in the emba-uba tree by the dining hall at Iracambi. Delighted to meet you.

And I gotta couple of things I need to tell you.

First, I'm incredibly grateful for your support over the years. Together we're turning a degraded forest into one that's lush and beautiful and supporting .a variety of plants and animals.

That makes me happy. But here's what keeps me awake at night.

I get the feeling that something is seriously wrong with the planet, and you and I need to do something about it. 

Here's the problem. Here, in my forest, we’ve recently had record-breaking heat. Drought. Wildfires. Heavy rain. The seasons are off balance, and I just know that the forest is in real danger.  

We know you love forests, and they are amazing, aren't they? Forests supply clean water and pure air. They help regulate our climate and shelter biodiversity - think not just cute sloths, but genetic materials that humans use to produce food and medicines. And they give us all this for free. 

People need forests, and, right now, forests need people. 

People like YOU. 

Time is short and we can't stop now. If we're going to reach our goal of planting a million trees, we all need to pitch in. The sooner, the better.
