Giving Tuesday is tomorrow! We're counting on you

Hello everyone! We hope you are well!

Giving Tuesday is in full stride - and this year it's truly epic! Please join us if you possibly can, and be sure to ask your friends, family, colleagues and rich uncles to support Forests4Water Brazil: Community Climate Action.

It'll be available through midnight December 3rd. Just so you know, $25 will plant and care for 7 beautiful rainforest trees. Add in the incentive funding, and you do the math! GlobalGiving has $750,000 in incentive funding! We gotta help them shift it. With your help, we can restore the beautiful rainforest to ensure a healthy future for everyone, everywhere.

Thank you! Much love,

Carla, Binka, the Iracambi Foresters, and our mascot, George

Biodiversity: yes, we have it!

What should you do when you find a poisonous snake? After we posted about a baby jararaca that appeared here in the woodpile, we received this question from Sidnei about what to do when you find a snake. Hit play and check out the answer from our biologist and Environmental Education coordinator Dayana Duarte.

What stands out

  1. It's fake news that snakes are lurking to strike
  2. Killing a wild animal is an environmental crime in Brazil
  3. Snakes are part of the ecosystem and are important for ecological balance

Keep yards and areas near your home clean! Environmental education is in our DNA. Iracambi, for 25 years caring for and preserving the Atlantic Forest

Exchange of knowledge in Iracambi celebrates healthy food

Think of a Saturday with lots of connected people, learning, healthy and delicious food and many exchanges of knowledge and culture. That's how it was at Troca de Saberes, which took place here in Iracambi on the 2nd in celebration of World Food Day.

The morning began with a beautiful, hearty breakfast shared with grapefruit jam, wholemeal bread made with natural yeast, fruit, orange cake, freshly made tapioca with chimichurri, minas cheese, coconut cake and sprinkle biscuits. It was hard to stop eating!

Then there was the practical sprout germination workshop with the journalist Carla da Hora Duailibi, followed by a simply sensational vegetarian lunch with fresh ingredients prepared with great care by Carla Facchina, the event's organizer. Living food to nourish our bodies and souls.

We closed with an open chat, exchanging experiences and information about food, emotional memory, production methods, the impact on the environment, conscious consumption, consumer power, food production in Brazil, industrialized food, the use of pesticides, behavior, changing culture and health.

Lessons and more lessons! We would like to thank everyone who came along, took part and made this Saturday very special.
