At Helping Hands School, our team remains committed to delivering meaningful educational programs and enriching learning experiences for the youth of Prasat Char Village and nearby communities. Our students consistently demonstrate their enthusiasm for learning, encouraged by their supportive teachers. Additionally, we have welcomed some wonderful volunteers to the school, bringing enthusiasm and positively enhancing the educational journey.
Our school has experienced significant improvements in resources and facilities, including an upgraded library with more textbooks and new gardens supported by our volunteers. Both students and teachers have enthusiastically received these achievements. This quarter, our students participated in various activities organized by the school and our dedicated volunteers, such as English excursions, reading groups, and science classes. These activities have sparked students' curiosity and fostered optimism for the upcoming terms. Student attendance has remained consistently high, as expected from the first quarter, and our team continues to support children facing challenges due to health or living conditions.
Helping Hands Cambodia’s Current Initiatives
Our exceptional volunteers, Andrew and Susan, developed and introduced essential science classes for our older students. The course focused on enhancing critical thinking through evidence analysis, innovation, and creativity while also highlighting practical ways to apply scientific knowledge in everyday life. The students engaged in experiments and hands-on activities that helped them better understand the concepts. Our students had an incredible experience on this fascinating course.
Basketball equipment was added to our playground, enabling students to play with their friends during school breaks. They enjoyed lessons from our volunteers and a mini-tournament. Additionally, our students had the chance to join the English Excursions, which are designed to offer diverse learning experiences that encourage them to dream big and aim for excellence despite their challenges.
Our Breakfast Program is essential in positively impacting student learning and performance. Helping Hands School continues providing balanced, nutritious meals to give our students the energy and concentration necessary for effective learning and academic success. This quarter, we launched a Breakfast Program Fundraising Campaign, inviting donors and volunteers to contribute to creating meaningful change within the community.
Helping Hands School Champions
Helping Hands School believes that providing quality education is essential to breaking the cycle of poverty and paving the way for sustainable development. Throughout this journey, we encounter inspiring stories from our students that motivate our communities and volunteers.
Sokhea, is an 11-year-old student who lives with her father and four younger siblings in Prasat Char Village. Sokhea is an exceptional student, constantly striving for excellence in her studies. After class, she dedicates herself to self-study, aiming to be at the top of her class and make her father and relatives proud. She is deeply grateful to her teachers and to Kong, our social worker who continually encourages her to work hard. Sokhea dreams of becoming a teacher when she grows up, and she is passionate about sharing knowledge with others.
Samben, an 11-year-old student, has a truly inspiring story. When she first joined Helping Hands, she struggled with her studies, particularly in English, which she didn’t enjoy. However, with encouragement from her teachers and staff, Samben began to change. She dedicated herself to studying, focusing on reading and improving her spelling, and spent much of her time in the library. Today, Samben is one of the top students in her class. Despite her challenging living conditions, she continues to prove that she can succeed, no matter the obstacles.
Sense of Belonging
Our community is always delighted to welcome both new and returning volunteers who generously give their time and effort to make a difference for our students. This quarter, we were pleased to host two incredible volunteer groups: CISCO and Beeta International Education Group.
The CISCO group contributed by enhancing our farming project to support the student nutrition program, assisting with student learning through reading sessions, and helping to improve our Helping Hands library. Beeta International Education Group, a returning volunteer group that first joined us in 2019, came back this year to offer their support once again. They dedicated their time and resources to various projects, ranging from water sanitation to educational assistance.
We are deeply grateful to each and every volunteer for their hard work in creating positive change, and we look forward to welcoming them back in the near future.

We extend our heartfelt gratitude to each and every one of our generous donors. Your unwavering support has been the cornerstone of Helping Hand's success, driving us forward and making our impactful work possible. Your kindness and dedication have enabled us to make a tangible difference in the lives of the children we serve. Truly, it is not possible without your compassion and commitment. Thank you for making everything we do possible!
