Creating Brighter Futures in the Peruvian Andes

Teacher and kids at Picaflor House

Tucked away in the village of Oropesa in the Peruvian Andes, Picaflor House is a lifeline for children growing up in one of the region’s most underserved communities. While millions of tourists pass through nearby Cusco each year, the reality in remote villages like Oropesa is starkly different. Many families face deep-rooted poverty, limited opportunities, and an under-resourced public education system.

That’s where Picaflor House steps in.

Founded to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, Picaflor House offers free educational support, a safe environment to play, and vital community services to help children break the cycle of poverty. With your support, we are providing more than just academic help—we are giving children a chance to thrive.

Safe, Supportive, and Focused on the Future

Every day after school, children come to Picaflor House to receive academic reinforcement, homework help, literacy and numeracy support, and creative enrichment through art, music, and sports. Many of the children we serve attend overcrowded, underfunded public schools that lack the resources to support them individually. At Picaflor, they receive the attention, encouragement, and structure they need to succeed.

Our project also provides nutritious lunches, ensuring children can focus and learn without the distraction of hunger. For many families, this added support lightens the burden of daily survival and helps children stay in school longer.

Rooted in the Community

We don’t just work in the community—we are part of it. Our staff are local and understand the unique cultural and economic realities of life in rural Peru. We maintain strong relationships with families and schools to ensure we’re aligned with each child’s needs and progress.

Over time, Picaflor House has become a trusted and vital resource for families in Oropesa. It’s not only a place of learning but a place of safety, hope, and belonging.

Your Support Is Changing Lives

Thanks to our donors, dozens of children each year receive the support they need to stay in school, succeed academically, and build confidence in their futures. Without Picaflor House, many of these children would be left behind.

Together, we are creating lasting change—one child, one family, one village at a time.

Thank you for being part of the Picaflor House story. Your support brings education, safety, and hope to the children who need it most.
