Free education for 60 deprived children in Peru

Tucked away in the village of Oropesa in the Peruvian Andes, Picaflor House is a lifeline for children growing up in one of the region’s most underserved communities. While millions of tourists pass through nearby Cusco each year, the reality in remote villages like Oropesa is starkly different. Many families face deep-rooted poverty, limited opportunities, and an under-resourced public education system.

Founded to bridge the gap between potential and opportunity, Picaflor House offers free educational support, a safe environment to play, and vital community services to help children break the cycle of poverty. Every day after school, children come to Picaflor House to receive academic reinforcement, homework help, literacy and numeracy support, and creative enrichment through art, music, and sports. Many of the children we serve attend overcrowded, underfunded public schools that lack the resources to support them individually. At Picaflor, they receive the attention, encouragement, and structure they need to succeed.

Our project also provides nutritious lunches, ensuring children can focus and learn without the distraction of hunger. For many families, this added support lightens the burden of daily survival and helps children stay in school longer.
