Friendship Bracelets for the LGBTQ Community

Embracelets are just one way that our Mama Dragons show love to the LGBTQ+ community - and 2025 will need lots of love out there.  

There's nothing like attending a Pride celebration and seeing people's reactions when they see loving, affirming Mamas there with open arms. Our Mama Dragons offer hugs and Embracelets - a physical reminder that they are accepted, affirmed, and celebrated for being exactly who they are. 

Next year, Mama Dragons will be back at Pride celebrations across the country giving out hugs and handing out Embracelets. Every Embracelet is handmade with love by a Mama Dragon who has been on that journey to affirmation of their LGBTQ+ child.

Our Embracelet makers' goal is to have 20,000 Embracelets ready to hand out in 2025!   Will you help us meet that goal with a small donation today? 

One wrist at a time, we are sharing our unconditional love, affirming hugs, and hope for a better and safer future, through our handmade Embracelets program.

Although Mama Dragons, as an organization, has paused tabling as many events this year, our volunteers and supporters continue to create beautiful Embracelets, and to wrap them around the wrists of many in the LGBTQ+ community. In the first three months of 2024, more than 800 were sent in to our coordinators, and many more are being shared directly from the makers: 

"I have been giving them to people in the LGBTQ+ community who could use a Mama Dragons hug. I also gave some to my daughter to gift to her LGBTQ+ friends. My husband is taking several to a Pride Flag raising ceremony, to give to the government officials and employees with whom he will be meeting. They have tags on them stating that they're called Embracelets because they're hugs from a Mama Dragon."

Queer people who come from non-affirming homes need to be reminded that they are loved, and that there is hope for a better future. Embracelets are physical reminders that they can wear: that someone put time, energy, and care into making sure they know that they are seen, they are worthy, and they are loved.  By donating, you support makers in safely embracing those seeking affirming connections and support. We will also be sharing our love and affirmations at our 2024 “LUV Without Limits” Parent Education Conference, being held at the Salt Lake City Marriott (Downtown-City Creek location) on October 18&19, 2024.
