Report on FROM DESPAIR to HOPE

By Anthony Pius | Project Leader

"From Despair to Hope", which aims to provide holistic care for vulnerable, abandoned, and neglected children at Diani Children’s Village (DCV). Thanks to your generous support and the incredible platform provided by GlobalGiving—especially through the matching funds—we are excited to report that we have almost reached our fundraising target!

A Journey of Impact

At DCV, we currently care for 30 children, including infants and premature babies who require specialized medical attention, nutritional support (such as milk formula), and developmental therapies like physiotherapy. Your contributions have directly supported:

  • Essential nutrition for all children, including infants with unique dietary needs

  • Critical medical care, including medications, routine check-ups, and emergency treatment

  • Education support, allowing our children to continue learning and thriving

  • Reliable power and water supply, ensuring a safe and stable environment

  • Emotional and psychological care, helping children heal from trauma

  • Family reunification efforts, which, though resource-intensive, are vital to our mission

We’ve also been able to extend support to our dedicated team of caregivers, whose commitment and compassion lie at the heart of our work. With part of the funds raised, we’ve been able to offer better compensation, ongoing training, and improved working conditions to ensure they can continue providing the highest level of care.

The Power of Community

This milestone would not have been possible without the generosity of our sponsors, friends, and the GlobalGiving family. The matching funds campaign played a crucial role in helping us bridge the gap in our financial needs and brought us significantly closer to our goal. We are incredibly thankful for this opportunity.

Looking Ahead

As the cost of living continues to rise, so do the needs of the children under our care. While we celebrate the strides we’ve made, we recognize that our journey is far from over. That is why we are excited and hopeful about upcoming fundraising campaigns with GlobalGiving.

With your continued partnership, we are confident that we can sustain and expand our efforts, ensuring every child at Diani Children's Village receives the love, care, and opportunities they deserve.

Thank you for walking this journey from despair to hope with us.

With heartfelt gratitude,

Anthony Pius
