Hello friends of FTPF,
This has been a great couple of months for the Fruit Tree Planting Foundation and Fruit Tree 101! Since April, FTPF has planted over 200 fruit trees at 9 schools across 4 states from coast to coast. As each growing environment was unique, we chose specific varieties that would thrive in that zone, including extremely cold-hardy cultivars for the far north of Minnesota to drought-tolerant types for Arizona. Over 1,000 students participated in planting their new schoolyard orchards, ranging in age from toddlers to 18 years old. One high school student, who was out on a Sunday morning the day after prom, said,
"These trees are dope."
From a teenager the morning after prom, we take that as a high compliment!
Below are some of our favorite snapshots from these schools, and we hope you get a sense of how fun and fulfilling these projects are for not only the students, but also for the staff, teachers, parents, and FTPF staff who came together to make them possible.
