Dear friends,
Although our programs have had some setbacks and postponements due to the global crisis, we are proud that we have been able to safely and successfully begin implementing this year's Fruit Tree 101 projects.
Last month, FTPF held two Fruit Tree 101 events in Denver. The first, a 50-tree orchard, was planted in collaboration with Sprout City Farms at Denver Green School. The second, which was originally planned to be a new 25-tree orchard at Kohl Elementary school in Broomfield, turned into a fruit tree distribution event. Although we had originally planned to plant an orchard on campus, the school is completely closed due to the pandemic, so we decided this would be a great alternative to bring the benefits of fruit trees to Kohl students! Our arborist held a planting workshop, going over proper planting technique and site selection as well as answering any questions, before distributing the trees to participating families.
As we adjust to this new normal, rest assured that FTPF will be finding ways to continue on our mission to bring fruit trees and education to children and families around the world. We have several more Fruit Tree 101 projects scheduled for the fall and we will keep you updated on how those unfold over the coming months.
Thank you for your support during these challenging times!
