Dear Friends,
Summer is here, and so is our busiest time of the year! With the warmer weather comes a flurry of activity for the FTPF team, meaning we are out in the field working to bring fruit trees and environemental education to schools all around the world!
We have just completed a series of projects in our home-city of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. We were also able to check up on several of our previously planted orchards, and literally see the fruits of our labor as many of these trees were bearing fruit for the first or second year!
FTPF donated orchards at schools all around the city, including two mico-orchards at both locations of the Environmnetal Charter School, one at Aiken Elementary, another at Morrow Elemenrary, and a large 42 tree orchard at California University of Pennslyvania just outside the city. It was a busy, busy week, but one that yielded over 200 new fruit trees for the students of Pittsburgh! The projects successes even reached the ears of several media outlets, resulting in a few nice newspaper and online articles about FTPF and our work in the area.
Next up we are heading back to Central America to plant thousands more trees as part of our ten-year plan to bring 100,000 fruit trees to this small, heavily deforested country. We are still accpeting volunteers for the trip, and if you would like to join us for an amazing eco-adventure this July, you can find more information and apply online at http://ftpf.org/elsalvador.htm. Hurry, as time is running out and space is limited!
To keep up with FTPF throughout the busy and exciting planting season, follow us on Facebook and Instagram where you can see photos of staff, volunteers, and students getting their hands dirty all the way from Pittsburgh to Uganda to Minnesota to El Salvador!
Thank you so much for your support of Fruit Tree 101...every tree planted has the ability to significantly impact a student's mental, physical, and emotional wellbeing. THANK YOU!!
