Aloha friends,
To celebrate Earth Day and Arbor Day, we'd like to share two upcoming projects on Hawai'i Island this year!
FTPF will be partnering with Honoka'a Elementary School to plant a beautiful new 25 tree orchard at their campus. According to Wesley Capdepon, the teacher who applied for this orchard: "An orchard for Honokaa Elementary School will increase food security, nutritious snacks, knowledge of food production, and cultural connections for students. Additionally, the space may be used as an outdoor classroom."
Our team will also be continuing and expanding our work to reforest endangered native tree species in the Halepua'a and Keau'ohana forest reserves. These trees serve important ecological, spiritual, and cultural roles for Native Hawaiians, and we are thrilled to be able to plant many more with the help of our partners Hawaii Environmental Restoration and Malama O Puna.
Mahalo nui loa to all of our generous supporters for making these projects possible!
The FTPF Team
PS: We are always looking for new projects to support the environmental, cultural, and nutritional well-being of Hawaii residents, so please feel free to share our information or apply for an orchard directly. You can find out more on our website at ftpf.org/apply.
Project reports on GlobalGiving are posted directly to globalgiving.org by Project Leaders as they are completed, generally every 3-4 months. To protect the integrity of these documents, GlobalGiving does not alter them; therefore you may find some language or formatting issues.
If you donate to this project or have donated to this project, you can receive an email when this project posts a report. You can also subscribe for reports without donating.
