Aloha friend,
We have planted dozens of orchards and hundreds of food-producing trees across Hawai'i over the years.
While the planting days are amazing, the true payoff comes years later when the orchards begin to produce food for their communities.
We are always thrilled to hear reports of the kinds, amounts, and uses of these harvests.
This year, we heard from our friends at Maku'u Farmers Market that in just one day they harvested over 50lbs of oranges and 10lbs of bananas from their orchard. The harvest is donated as part of their kapuna, or community, care program.
This is from just a small number of trees - the more we plant, the more food is available for Hawaiian communities and the closer we can get to food sovereignty for our islands.
If you are able, please consider donating to our work to bring even more orchards and nourishment to Hawaiian communities!
Mahalo nui loa,
