Music class
Music is now trending at the school! The excitement is just unbelievable and the talented students are so grateful seeing their dreams come true. It has taken long to put things in place but it has happened! The students have been learning theory which touched on how to handle the instruments and different kinds of music.
The class was so exciting and it attracted our high school students who were on their mid-term holidays. Our music teacher’s name is Mr Joseph Senerwa, he is in education and specialized in music. He reports on Fridays through the weekend and it has worked well.
We have bought box guitars, flutes, keyboard and amplifiers. We are setting up a band and we will be sending some video clips. We will also participate in music festivals this semester. We need more instruments for the band, sharing with friends and families will help us.
Once again thank you for your generousity.

Progress
By Rose Bugusu | Director
What a blessing to be able to enter into the month of December which ends the year 2019! We geel blessed and we are grateful that this year has been a year of blessings. We have new friends and we have also impelimented a new project!
The music proram which is our new program is progressing well. We have been able to order a piano and few other inruments. It was unfortunate we couldnt find one in the music store, and we had to place an order and the instruments get here the end of this month. We are still promising to send pictures immediately the instruments are here. We have the keyboard which the children have been practicing and the lessons are going on.
We cant wait to start schools next month and continue with our lessons. We have put the band in place and when the instruments are here we will then select the talented students.
As we get into the giving Tuesday please consider our projects and also check on the list and buy for us an instrument. We still dont have much to report but we will have more next year.
Blessed Holidays!

Getting started

Our children performing a traditional dance
I would like to take this opportunity to thank all who have sacrificed their time and money to support our music program at Tumaini Miles of Smiles School. You cant imagine the smiles on our children's faces when they heard that we are supported to buy music instruments and also engage a qualified music teacher to teach them. This is the most happiest moments for the children who are talented and have passion for music.
Our curricular has changed and we are required to mentor talents, we chose music to be our main program because music changes lives and motivates the children. Music can also improve their personality and can change them academically.
We actually didnt know how to approach this, we dont have any single instrument apart the traditional drums and the children could only do traditional dance. A friend had donated to us an old piano which we cherished so much but we had power failure which blew up the transformer and it affected the piano. It was sad when we were told that it could be repaired and we had to throw it away. We are very grateful for your support and we are getting started.
We would like to have a school band and we will continue fundraising for concerts and competitions. I believe we still need more instruments which we will keep you posted on this page.
please share with friends and families about this wonderful program at our school. Watch this space for more interesting stories about our music program.
