Dear Friends of Warrior Canine Connection,
Thank you for making 2018 yet another remarkable year for Warrior Canine Connection. This year marked seven years of service to our nation’s Veterans and their families. Our dedicated staff has done an incredible job and, of course, we couldn’t do what we do without the help from our devoted volunteers and supporters, like you — thank you!
As we near the year’s end, I would like to reflect on all we have accomplished. This is by no means an exhaustive list, rather, a few highlights from 2018 of which we are immensely proud.
In 2018, WCC had eight litters of beautiful, healthy pups. We are proud of our breeding program and its commitment to quality in breeding, raising, nurturing and training future service dogs to help many Veterans in need ahead. Donors, like you, help us in that work by providing valuable funding for our puppies' veterinary care and training expenses.
WCC also served 533 Veterans in 2018 by providing 2,743 hours of Mission Based Trauma Recovery training at its various sites. Some of those sites included Veterans Treatment Courts (VTC) throughout the country. This past year, WCC expanded its programming to provide service dog training in six VTCs in four states. We are operational with four programs in California (Santa Clara, Santa Cruz, San Francisco and San Mateo), one in Baltimore City (if you haven’t seen it, check out this video on Judge Weinstein and the VTC program there) and, most recently, we expanded to Asheville, North Carolina. Our partners, Assistance Dogs of the West, are also using WCC’s Mission Based Trauma Recovery model in its Veterans program in Santa Fe, New Mexico.
WCC received a 4-Star Rating from Charity Navigator, America’s largest independent charity evaluator. This is extremely important, as it shows WCC has demonstrated its commitment to spending its donors’ money in an ethical, transparent and responsible manner.
And, our amazing team participated in approximately 200 events to raise awareness and educate individuals and organizations about our mission, as well as to help raise funds for WCC.
We have lots to be grateful for, but the need is great and our work is far from done. With your ongoing support of our mission, we look forward to a successful and productive year ahead.
From our family to yours, best wishes for a happy and healthy 2019!
