We Are Girls, We Are Enough!

By Alian Ollivierre | Project Leader

What Are We Up To Now?

Firstly, thank you for all your support, for those of you donating on a regular basis, to all new donors, who have complimented our work for this period.

To give you a quick update, in the past few weeks we have completed:

  1. 50 More Youth Conference, where the initiative, with your help, has gone regional, with both St. Lucia and Dominica accomplished.
  2. Generation Y Easter Retreat for 2019, where more than 40 girls slept in for four (4) nights, and we expanded our sisterhood bond during that time.
  3. Just recently we concluded Generation Y Girls' Club for the school year, and will be focused on Summer Programming going forward.
  4. Our Legacy Fellowship Initiative with our partner Soca Girls Rock is well underway, and will fully conclude during summer, where two (2) of the fellows will intern at our office during that period.
  5. The pilot programme, at one of our leading school partners, is semi-complete and their final presentations on Mental Health, will take shape later next month.

As we also continuing our count down to our official 5th Anniversary celebrations, with activities being planned to champion our on-going partners, past and present, just like you.

We have some absolutely amazing donors, like yourselves, that have held us up, and we will continue to highlight you.

Where Are We Going?

In the last few weeks we have either started or will be starting quite elements to this project, as listed below:

  • We will be starting a podcast in the coming months to highlight major issues girls face, and one of our more senior mentees will be taking lead in this.  Our aim is for our girls to leverage technology to have their voices be heard.
  • Capacity Building through travel, where some mentees have already been able to travel, who never got a chance to, thanks to you, and we are on the verge of one other travelling to Canada in a few weeks, where she will sit on a panel, and represent the organisation and her country on the area of Sexual Reproductive Health.

How Can You Continue To Help?

We of course, continue to welcome your collaboration and support.  Some ways you can continue to get involved are:

  1. Spread the word with family, friends, co-workers and associates, who may have resources to offer.  This may be done via social media, e-mail, direct conversation.  You know them best!
  2. Work with us by offering your expertise, skills and experiences, that would allow us to grow and learn in fundraising, advocacy and/or any other areas required for growth.
  3. Become a recurring donor, if you have not done so already, where your continual support, aids with sustaining our initiatives.
  4. Complete a good deed each week, whether for girls or youth in general, as it adds tremendous value to their development, as we are at our optimum when we are in service to others.
  5. Share some ideas you may have, with how we can celebrate our official 5th Anniversary coming up (October 2019).  It is always great to hear different perspectives, especially from our dedicated Champions of Impact.

As we continue throughout 2019 and building different chapters in I Am A Girl, we look forward to having you, our community, previous, current and new partners and stakeholders on board to help us learn, develop and prosper.
