At Special Olympics Chile, we work with partner institutions that offer sports workshops to people with intellectual disabilities in different regions of the country.
Young Athletes is a program designed for children ages 2 to 7, whether or not they have an intellectual disability. What is the objective?,to develop basic motor and sports skills, to stimulate basic social skills in an inclusive environment., to contribute to children's future participation in sports and other areas of society.
A unique form of Special Olympics that brings together people with and without intellectual disabilities on a single team, with the goal of promoting physical activity and social inclusion.
They share a common goal and work together to achieve it, both on and off the field.
This form includes three inclusive sports models:
1) Competition
2) Player Development
3) Recreation
Our sporting events follow the official rules of each sport, as well as the Special Olympics regulations, to ensure fair competition. Athletes are classified by gender, age, and skill level.
Our competitive platform encompasses events at various levels:
Communal and inter-communal
Regional
National
International
We continue working on this powerful challenge of reaching the entire country, from Arica to Punta Arenas, spreading our message that a more inclusive society is possible.
