At the beginning of May, our crazy team on Lesvos set themselves the following challenge : run 320km, in 32 hours. The team was made up of 24 16-35 year olds of ten nationalities who would run through the night and under the sun around the whole island. Together, they made it their objective, in order to raise 1,000 euros to support our community in Lesvos.
We are delighted to let you know that the team successfully completed the challenge ! There were ups and downs throughout the 32 hours it took, but they never ever thought about quitting, even when things got tough.
With your generosity we were able to raise 1,501.85$ in total. It is way more than we expected and we want you to know how grateful we are that you participated in helping us achieve this goal. This money allows us to continue funding our community to continue doing sports. Specifically the money raised from this event enabled us to support our coaches, the backbone of our project as well as pay for the rent of our sports field in May and June.
We reached our fundraising goals and now we are onto our next crazy challenges, stay tuned for our Swim Campaign where teams will swim 12 KM representing the distance many have travelled to arrive in Greece from Turkey while searching for a better life.
The Lesvos team themselves are already busy brainstorming their next challenges, who’s keen to run up 4 mountains in one day?! Keep up to date with our activities @yogasportwithrefugeesglobal/ on instagram and @yogasportwithrefugees/ of tiktok.
Thanks for reading and your continued support
