May and June 2020 Update of the Sanctuary Animals

Still riding the waves of the pandemic, May and June also proved to be challenging; however, the overwhelming support of donors from different parts of the world helped us tide over the difficulties. We start this report by expressing our heartfelt gratitude to all of you - the amazing donors who have helped us to stay afloat and continue our life-saving work.

During May and June, we managed to re-start our Spay/Neuter program as well as continue to carry out emergency life-saving surgeries for street animals. The task of encouraging and empowering local communities to care for and feed community animals was continued by several volunteers, creating the much needed awareness during this time of crisis. This indeed has had a rippling effect amply demonstrated by the several requests from public on sterilizing and vaccinating street and community animals which we were able to carry out successfully.

One of the remarkable rescue stories has been that of Eeesha. She was found in the streets after an accident with a dead puppy stuck halfway in the birth canal. She had to undergo an emergency C-section. Unfortunately, the rest of the pups had also died inside her. She was very fragile after the surgery and needed critical post-operative care. She was a bag of bones when she was admitted at our shelter and was completely recumbent for the first few days. With each passing day, her health improved and now she is able to walk on her own without any support. However, she needs to gain weight and recover strength and still has a long way before getting released back to the community. Thanks to donors like yourself, we were able to give her the critical care at the time she needed it most and we are ever grateful.

While your $20 donation covers the cost of a life-saving surgery, a $50 donation covers the complete cost of food, treatment and care for one rescue animal for a whole month.

With your kindness, we are confident of moving forward. Please continue to support us!

Gratefully,
Mini Vasudevan,
Project Leader
