July and August 2020 Update for the Sanctuary Pets

Abandoned pet Mimi finds her forever home!

July and August were two months where we accomplished several life-saving surgeries and conducted couple of vaccination drives against Rabies too. These two months also witnessed several successful adoptions of rescued pets. These have all been made possible only by your incredible support.

We reaped the benefits of encouraging and empowering local communities to care for and feed community animals, as, many of them brought the community pets for spaying/neutering and vaccinating. The number of out-patients to our clinic also soared high where some of the life-saving surgeries were performed on out-patient community pets as well. Two of the remarkable rescue stories have been that of Sabu and Meena. Thanks to donors like yourself, we were able to give them the critical care and perform life-saving surgeries at the time they needed it and we are ever grateful.

Rescued with a lacerated wound on her paw and a big tumor near her chest, Meena had to undergo emergency surgery as the tumor was growing bigger by the day. Though she was quite old and the surgery being risky at that age, we went ahead with it since it was the only option to relieve her from pain. Thanks to our skilled veterinary team and the donations we received to cover the cost, the surgery was performed successfully and the tumor was removed. Following our current philosophy of performing spay/neuter whenever an opportunity presented itself, we also spayed her while under anesthesia. It turned out to be a blessing in disguise, as we found out that she also had pyometra which could have put her life at risk soon had she not been operated. Following Meena, Sabu also underwent amputation as he had a cancerous growth on the hind-limb. Sabu and Meena have both recovered fully and have since then been released back to their communities.

While your $50 donation covers the complete cost of food, treatment and care for one rescue animal for a whole month, your $100 donation covers the entire cost of an emergency special surgery.

With your kindness, we are confident of moving forward. Please continue to support us!

Gratefully,
Mini Vasudevan,
