January and February 2023 Report on the Sanctuary

Revi Finds His Forever Home
Revi Finds His Forever Home

January and february were hectic months for HAS and our rescues. We have so many accomplishments and infinite gratitude to the support we received. With your support, we improved the quality of life of over 1500 animals. We were also able to conduct several education and awareness sessions in couple of schools and also a few communities.

The highlights of these months have been the phenomenal transformation stories and fairytale adoptions. We strive to provide the best possible care to all animals in need that come through our gates and sometimes we are required to carry out critical surgical procedures to try and save their lives. Daisy was in a critical condition when rescued, suffering from dystocia — a condition where a female dog is unable to birth. She underwent a life-saving emergency surgery to be released back safe after adequate post-operative care.

Jackson and Spike are two other pooches who also received life-saving surgeries and their continued improvements have brought us much relief and delight. Jackson was discovered wandering the streets with a massive tumor that had begun to ulcerate, dangling from his neck. Having likely suffered with the tumor for many months, if not years, Jackson was found to be healthy enough for surgery, and the procedure was carried out without further delay. While risky, the procedure gave Jackson a new lease of life, and released him from the heavy and painful mass that he’d been lugging around with him for so long. Currently recuperating under post-operative care, this handsome, big-eared boy continues to make steady progress, and we’re all feeling positive about his future.

We also had several successful adoptions, each of which is a heart-warming story in itself. The one that stands out is that of Revi. He was barely 1.5 months old when he met with a gruesome accident in which his left forelimb was crushed. Left with no option other than to amputate the leg, little Revi appeared to take it all in his tiny stride, and with his charming personality, he romped through to make a resounding recovery! Despite his youth and zest for life, however, we knew Revi's chances of being adopted were slim, as most pet owners want perfect animals with no disabilities. However, when Melwin visited us searching for a pup to call his own, his eyes fell on our cheeky chap, Revi, and he instantly saw past his disability to the playful, loving, and energetic pup that stood in front of him! Two other adoption stories are equally heartwarming—those of Rubiya and Chintu, both special pets!

With summer just around the corner, we are busy getting our sanctuary ready for the over 100 permanent animals we have - to keep them cool and hydrated. Your $50 donation sponsors a permanent resident for a whole month. No amount is too small when it comes to making a difference to precious lives. Our extreme gratitude to your unstinting commitment to the cause. Thanks for this wonderful partnership!
