March and April 2024 Update from the Sanctuary

Volunteers bathing a rescue pet

Dear friends,

March and April have been sizzling hot and we have been working hard to make the lives of our streeties better by quenching their thirst. We went about distributing water bowls that were installed in different parts of the city through our volunteer network. This effort was reciprocated with great enthusiasm from one and all and we managed to install many bowls in strategic locations.

April 06th marks the day Humane Animal Society was founded. This April, we completed 18 years and we have many reasons to celebrate. We are immensely proud of our accomplishments over the years, touching the lives of more than 75000 animals and counting. All of this have been made possible only because of YOUR support and we are forever grateful that YOU have put your trust on us in doing the neeful for our companions.

We hope you will enjoy reading couple of heartwarming rescue and adoption stories here. These two months also witnessed a flurry of volunteering activities, with the schools having closed after the exams and both children and their parents being free. We had couple of overseas volunteers too and their interaction with the rescue pets brought about mutual emotional enrichment.

Bala's story is about the resilience and speedy healing capabilities displayed by robust young Indie pups. Despite facing a daunting dog bite that caused his organs to protrude out of the body and while recovering after surgery contracting the deadly parvovirus, tiny tot Bala defied the odds and thrived thanks to your support. He has recovered well now and will soon be reintegrated into his community.

Keerthi was rescued after she had met with an accident that resulted in a hernia. We sprang into action, performing a delicate surgery to repoistion her organs and carefully suturing her up. Keerthi displayed a lot of grit, gradually bouncing back to help with the help of soft diet and plenty of care. With her calm demeanor and gentle spirit, she easily won the hearts of everyone at the shelter and also found her forever home! Keerthi's story is a testament to the power of compassion and second chances.

For as little as 10 USD, you can feed a dog for a whole week and USD 20 covers the entire cost of a spay/neuter surgery that helps to release several street animals from the struggles of overpopulation and the deadly grip of Rabies. Please support us so that we can continue our work of transofrming lives—one paw at a time.

Thank you!
