April and May 2026 Update for the HAS Sanctuary

Ring Vaccination in Progress
Ring Vaccination in Progress

April and May brought additional challenges as temperatures soared and we struggled to keep all our residents hydarted and protected from the summer woes. Thankfully with your support, we have been able to install fans, provide sufficient water-bowls, and give enough shade for them to thrive and feel safe.

An impactful ring-vaccination drive against Rabies was conducted where more than 1000 animals got life-saving rabies vaccine protecting them from the deadly disease for at least 1 year. The past months also saw an incredible wave of new volunteers step up to support our mission, and thanks to them, our furry residents were adequately socialized, groomed, bathed, and received the care that they truly deserve.

Apart from conducting routine sterilization and vaccination drives to responding to cruelty cases, several animals were successfully rescued and rehabilitated during the past two months. Billa lost vision on both his eyes as a result of an accident, but that doesn't deter him from enjoying his life to the fullest. Now a permanent resident of the sanctuary and with all his other senses compensating, he adapted quickly and makes sure to not miss any fun. Vaira and Anegan also had remarkable recoveries—Vaira from a devastating accident that left him a tri-pawd, and Anegan from a complex condition of rectal diverticulum.

The adoption story of sweet little Beetle had a true fairy-tale ending. This adorable pooch had been waiting to catch someone's eye for several months when two overseas volunteers fell head over heels in love with her. When it was time for them to leave, they promised to take her home one day. Fortunately, our founder had an upcoming trip overseas and was more than willing to escort her so that she could begin her best life.

Once again we request sponsorship for the permanent residents of our Sanctuary. It takes just USD 50 to sponsor a permanent animal for an entire month. You may sponsor any part thereof as you prefer. A small recurring contribution goes a long way in giving them a second chance. Our heartfelt gratitude in advance!
