Dear Donors,
We sincerely thank the donors who have supported the $10 Funds Monthly Haircuts for Orphans & Homeless project. Your kindness shows care for people who live on the streets or in shelters without access to basic grooming. However, the donations received so far are still too small to begin the planned outreach visits.
In many Nigerian cities, orphaned children and homeless adults struggle with personal hygiene because they cannot afford simple services such as haircuts. Without grooming support, many live with overgrown hair and unclean appearances. This often leads to rejection, stigma, and poor treatment in public places. Some barbers refuse to serve them, while others charge fees they cannot pay.
For people already facing poverty and homelessness, appearance can influence how they are treated by others. A neglected appearance may reduce their chances of being welcomed in social spaces or considered for small job opportunities. Poor grooming conditions can also increase health risks when unclean tools are used or when hygiene is neglected for long periods.
This project will send trained barbers to locations where orphans and homeless people gather, including shelters, street junctions, markets, and under bridges. Each person will receive a safe haircut using clean tools and proper hygiene practices. The service will be repeated monthly so that participants can maintain a neat appearance.
Providing regular grooming services can help restore dignity and confidence. When people look clean and cared for, they are more likely to be approached with respect and openness by others around them.
Although a few contributions have been received, the funds available cannot yet support the first round of outreach visits. We continue to seek further assistance so that these services can begin reaching those who need them most.
Sincerely,
Ugbede-Ojo Dominic Kadiri
