Many homeless people and orphans in Nigeria live without basic grooming support. Poor hygiene affects how they are treated, seen, and hired. For just $10, this project will provide free haircuts and grooming for 1,500 people who sleep in the open or live in group shelters. Each haircut is done on the street or at shelter sites by trained barbers with hygiene tools. A clean appearance helps people feel respected and opens small doors to social and work inclusion.
In many Nigerian cities, orphaned children and homeless adults live with uncut hair, dirty appearances, and no access to grooming. This affects their dignity, social treatment, and chances of being accepted in work or social spaces. Without money, barbers won't serve them. Unclean tools also raise health risks. Personal hygiene is a daily struggle for them, and something as small as a haircut can help restore their confidence and how others respond to them.
The project will bring trained barbers to the streets and shelters where 1,500 orphans and homeless people live. Haircuts will be done safely using clean tools and basic grooming kits. Barbers will be paid, and services repeated monthly. The team will go to busy junctions, markets, under bridges, and orphan shelters to reach people where they are. Haircuts improve appearance, build confidence, and make it easier for people to seek help, jobs, or reconnect with others.
Clean grooming may not change a life instantly, but it helps remove a barrier that often causes rejection. When someone looks clean, people speak to them differently. They are more likely to enter shops, ask for help, or be considered for work. This project builds trust and reduces stigma. Regular grooming for orphans and the homeless can slowly make them feel part of the public again and give them a chance to take small steps forward.
