STEM: Bridging the gap

By Matthew Craig | Project Leader

We want to express our sincere gratitude for your support in our project endeavors.

Our dedicated team works tirelessly on multiple fronts to advance gender equity and healthcare initiatives in Ghana. We understand that education is fundamental in addressing these critical issues. Therefore, we are committed to collaborating closely with our community partners to design programs that truly meet the specific needs of the communities we serve.

In collaboration with leading S.T.E.M Tech for Children Educational experts, we are developing programs to provide school-aged girls from Kokrobite with up to 10 years of basic to expert level training, courses, and accreditations in technology theory and practice. This training will prepare them for rewarding employment opportunities in the technology Research and Development  market in Accra. Accra is often referred to as the Silicon Valley of Africa, and is forecasted to create up to 9 million jobs over the next decade.

The tech industry recognizes the need to address gender disparity in S.T.E.M careers. Our program aims to transform the lives of local girls by providing them with world-class S.T.E.M training and holistic support in healthcare, education, welfare, and social and economic areas. This comprehensive support removes barriers that potentially prevent female students from flourishing and achieving balanced, secure, and fulfilling careers.

Your fundraising contributions  have a significant impact. Together, we can bridge the gender gap in S.T.E.M by providing individualized support to Ghanaian girls facing challenges transitioning from the traditional to the modern economy, providing access to a community of like-minded girls and women through membership in the Ghana Girl Guides Association, and offering affordable, gender-designed world-class education and employment opportunities in S.T.E.M or tech.

The Empower Tech launch day  was a huge success, with guests such as our 23 female students who will be partaking in the trial, headteachers from our partner schools, chiefs of the community as well as representatives from Grow Ghana, She Code, University of Ghana, Siemens, GI-KACE the Department of Social Welfare, UNICEF and Bolt. The day consisted of multiple speeches from esteemed guests and the project team. Huge thanks to all who supported!

Another significant aspect of our project is the support we provide to student learning. Through partnerships with local schools, we conduct small group sessions and one-on-one support to enhance children's educational journeys. Our focus is on those who require additional assistance, helping to build their confidence, expand their learning, and discover their individual strengths and interests. This personalized support is crucial in enabling children to meet and surpass curriculum standards.

In addition to academic support, we are actively involved in providing various welfare-related educational opportunities for students. Our workshops cover various topics such as online safety, healthy relationships, leadership skills, wellbeing awareness, and specific health issues like malaria awareness. Your generous donations are crucial in acquiring and developing the necessary resources for these educational initiatives.

To all our valued partners, friends, and donors who make these endeavours possible, we extend our appreciation for your continued support.

Thanks to your contributions, the resources we can provide play a vital role in supporting learning initiatives focused on gender equality, public health, and welfare. We are very excited about the STEM project and know it will make a significant impact, and from the bottom of our hearts, we say thank you. Together, we are making a meaningful impact.

We look forward to keeping you updated.
