Dear KEDV supporters,
As part of the Women-Led Green Neighborhood Initiative project, a Green Business and Entrepreneurship Center for Women has been opened in Gaziantep, Türkiye. The project aims to empower women and increase their resilience to ecological and urban challenges caused by climate change. At the center, women from Gaziantep are learning how to make their neighborhoods greener and more resilient. The center offers training in edible landscaping practices, composting, and eco-friendly techniques such as rain harvesting. Participants will apply what they learn in their neighborhoods, leading the way to increased community resilience. Additionally, the center serves as both an advocacy and information hub on the impacts of the climate crisis. More than 500 women have been reached through the “Fighting Climate Change and Its Effects” trainings organized as part of the project.
We will continue to support women and women's co-operatives in Türkiye by building their capacity to cope with climate change and increasing their resilience to crises. Activities will focus on raising knowledge and awareness of the climate crisis and disasters, and on adapting economic and social initiatives to climate action.
The following activities are planned for the upcoming period:
• Provision of training, consultancy, technology infrastructure, equipment, tools, production inputs, and minor repair works needed by women's co-operatives to transform their economic initiatives into green business models or to operate in a more environmentally friendly manner.
• Conducting feasibility studies, business development, and analyses for women's co-operatives to develop strategies that address climate change in their current production.
• Assisting women's co-operatives in developing and launching collective production and storage initiatives to promote energy efficiency and conservation.
• Organizing study and institution visits, meetings, and workshops for women's co-operatives to exchange information and experiences with one another and with other institutions and organizations.
• Developing and distributing visual and written printed and/or digital materials to raise public and stakeholder awareness of women's co-operatives at local, regional, and national levels, and to provide relevant information about them.
We can only carry out all the planned work with your support. We would be very grateful if you could spread the word about our project within your networks:
