Dear Friends,
We wish every dog was in the care of an informed and dedicated human. Sadly, not every dog is, and even some dogs who have a caring human don't get everything they need, due to financial inability.
In all cases, the most important thing is the dog's welfare, and so we focus on the dogs and get to work.
When temperatures are high, a chained dog or one with no shelter is at risk, often with no retreat or relief from the Sun and heat. Then, Winter brings bitter cold and new assaults on their bodies, and they desperately need help to stay warm and dry. Not all survive the brutal extremes. Getting "outside dogs" off chains and into the relative freedom of fenced areas and into protective doghouses is a never-ending critical need, and Guardians never stops working to fill it.
If the owner will surrender the neglected dog, we will take him or her and find a great new home. If we can persuade the caretaker to allow the dog inside as a family member, we do. If these are not possible, we do what we can to give the dog more freedom, comfort and safety from the elements.
In recent months, we have helped a number of dogs. and here are a few examples of dogs whose lives were improved by your support—
—Otis was chained on a big, heavy tow chain on the front porch, without any shelter. When Guardians learned of his situation, we went in, put up a secure kennel, and gave him a cozy insulated doghouse to make his life more comfortable. A great improvement, we still wish he had more, and we will continue to work to upgrade his life.
—Billy lived on a cable with a broken old plastic house that didn't give him any real shelter from the rain or the heat. Guardians of Rescue came in and brought him a new sturdy doghouse. We are working on getting a buy-in from his caretaker to be allowed to build him a nice kennel. We stick with our "client" dogs.
—Maxine lived on a chain without any shelter from the elements until Guardians of Rescue came in and gave her a nice kennel and a doghouse. We also got her spayed, so that she would never add to the supply of dogs in need. While we would always rather that people would allow their dogs inside as part of the family, we do the most we can, under each circumstance, to uplift tand improve their lives.
We can't overstate the importance of donors like you in this mission of mercy. We will continue to help as many "outside dogs" as we have resources to help them. We follow up on the dogs we help as much as possible, to continue to keep them cared for and to upgrade their situation whenever possible.
All dogs deserve a great life, and any way we can make things better, safer, healthier and happier for them, with your help, we will.
Together we save them,
Guardians of Rescue
