Dogs are warm and fed, because you helped!

A new house, a new run and a new friend!
A new house, a new run and a new friend!

You and the Special Guardians who Get Dogs Off Chains

Dear Friend of Guardians of Rescue,

Who wouldn't want help for their dog?  If most of us needed pet food or other assistance for our beloved dogs, we'd gratefully jump at an offer of help.

But believe it or not, we do not always get a warm welcome when we show up to help outside dogs on chains or ropes, with little or no shelter and poor care and nutrition.

Guardians often does this lifesaving work in tough areas where some people are suspicious of us. It's a delicate dance to point out problems and offer to assist without the dog owners taking offense or reacting with less than a smile. Our Guardians Team has to be tough, kind, diplomatic and firm all at once. They are special rescue soldiers.

They have to be.

But after getting a buy-in from the needy dog's caretakers, Guardians does everything we can—and have permission to do— to upgrade the life of the dog. If we can persuade the owner to change their perception of the dog, and let him or her inside to be part of the family, we are thrilled. Failing that, we may offer to take the dog for rehoming. If that's not a option, we do everything in our power to create a secure fenced kennel or run with a cozy, insulated doghouse. If the owner will agree to the use of their electricity, we provide special pet-designed heating pads for warm toasty sleeping on freezing winter nights.  Sometimes we have even paid for the extra power usage. We make sure there is also shade to protect the dog when searing Sun makes Summer tough on an exposed outside dog.

Our Team constructs so many of these doghouses. When completed, the doghouse is then placed outside the run with an entrance cut into the fencing, so that the house does not take up ground space in the kennel.

By the way, we also provide hundreds of insulated cat shelters for outside community cats, but that's another story.

We'd like to share with you some recent photos, where we were welcomed with open arms, of work we've accomplished for a dog in need, and by distributing much-needed pet food during the past few months.

We hope you feel very good about helping making these upgrades in comfort and security for dogs in need possible.  And every meal you helped provide is the difference between gnawing hunger and a full belly. You play an important and irreplaceable part in making these precious lives better and happier, and in allowing us to provide comfort and nourishment to dogs (and cats) who would have otherwise had very little of either.

It's why our motto is so true—

Together we save them!

Deep thanks from All of Us at Guardians of Rescue

PS— if every one of our supporters on GlobalGiving would tell just one animal-loving friend about us here, we can do even more for more dogs in 2024—Thanks!

Come and get it!
