Project Progress
During the reporting period from July to October 2026, Green Fund Initiative (GFI) continued its commitment to protecting birds and wildlife in Bangladesh. Despite our limited financial resources, we conducted community awareness activities to encourage local people to protect resident and migratory birds from harmful fishing nets and other threats.
Working with our local partner, BCSSC, and in collaboration with the Bangladesh Forest Department, we focused on low-cost awareness initiatives to promote bird conservation and encourage community participation.
Key Activities and Achievements
Community Awareness: With our limited budget, we conducted awareness activities in rural communities to educate local residents about the importance of protecting birds and their natural habitats. We encouraged community members, particularly fish farmers and local residents, to avoid practices that may harm birds.
Educational Outreach: We shared conservation messages with community members, highlighting the dangers of fishing nets and the importance of protecting vulnerable bird species. These efforts helped maintain public attention on bird and wildlife conservation.
Community Engagement: We continued engaging with local stakeholders and community representatives to encourage their involvement in protecting birds and preventing unnecessary harm to wildlife.
Challenges and Future Plans
Limited funding remains our biggest challenge. Although we were able to continue awareness activities, financial constraints restricted our ability to expand conservation campaigns, organize larger educational programs, and strengthen bird rescue and rehabilitation efforts.
In the coming months, we aim to expand community awareness activities, distribute more educational materials, organize school-based conservation programs, and strengthen collaboration with local communities, BCSSC, and the Bangladesh Forest Department.
We also hope to secure additional funding to support bird rescue, rehabilitation, and long-term conservation initiatives.
Conclusion
Despite operating with a limited budget, GFI continued its bird conservation awareness efforts during July–October 2026. Our activities focused on encouraging local communities to recognize the importance of protecting birds and reducing threats caused by human activities.
We sincerely appreciate the support of our donors, partners, and volunteers.
With continued support, we hope to reach more communities and strengthen our efforts to protect Bangladesh's birds and biodiversity.
