Gift a Year of Elementary School to Nepal Children

Dear Women for Conservation Family, 

We are pleased to share the progress of our project, "Gift a Year of Elementary School to a Child in Nepal," which has been instrumental in supporting vulnerable children in accessing and continuing their education. Over the past months, we have made significant strides toward ensuring that children from marginalized backgrounds, particularly those whose families are living below the poverty line or who are orphans, receive the educational opportunities they deserve.

Scholarships for Vulnerable Students Through our scholarship initiative, we have directly supported children from several schools, including Kumarwarti Secondary School, Nawajyoti Basic School, and Panchpandev Primary School. Our team has worked closely with local schools to identify students in need, especially those facing financial challenges that may hinder their ability to stay enrolled. By covering school fees and providing essential educational materials, we have enabled these students to continue their studies without the fear of dropping out due to financial hardship.

Empowering the Next Generation In addition to financial support, we are fostering a deep commitment to conservation and community leadership among these students. Our efforts extend beyond scholarships by engaging them in environmental awareness programs and Green Clubs, which are designed to teach responsibility toward the environment while reinforcing positive behavior and social skills. These initiatives are helping to build a holistic education for these children, encouraging them to become both educated and environmentally conscious citizens.

Impact in Numbers

• Number of scholarships awarded: With help from your donations, we have provided scholarships to over 30 students, helping cover their school fees and educational supplies.
• Green Club formation: Green Clubs have been formed in schools, empowering students to take leadership roles in environmental activities and school improvement initiatives.
• Supplementary programs: As part of their holistic development, students have participated in conservation programs, tree planting, and environmental awareness activities, ensuring that they not only succeed academically but also contribute positively to their communities.

Community Impact By providing scholarships to children in need, we are not only supporting individual education but also strengthening families and communities. Education is a critical pathway out of poverty, and through these scholarships, we are helping to reduce the burden on families, empowering them to focus on long-term well-being and community development.

Challenges and Adaptations One of the challenges we faced this year was the economic strain on families due to seasonal migratory work. This challenge impacted children's ability to attend school regularly. To adapt, we engaged with families directly through door-to-door outreach and provided additional educational support to ensure continuity in learning.

Looking Ahead Our goal remains to expand the number of scholarships offered and continue providing holistic educational support to vulnerable children in Nepal. With your ongoing support, we can ensure that more children can access the education they deserve and remain in school, building a brighter, more sustainable future for themselves and their communities.

While we continue to work towards our 2024 grant goal, we are proud to report that your generous donations have provided scholarships to help dozens of Nepalese children stay in school and pursue their dreams.

Our Impact

Every month, Women for Conservation partners with Birds Nepal to provide scholarships to students most in need. The scholarship funds help them have a better learning experience. Over the past year, donors like you have enabled us to provide small scholarships in 12 different schools located around Nepal's most precious biodiversity nature reserves. These scholarships have provided shoes, books, and other essential supplies to dozens of poor students, keeping them in school while promoting a love for wildlife conservation.

"Hi, my name is Shesh. I am studying in grade 8 in Kumarwarti School. I am from the poorest marginalized community, and my family could not support any further education. I am very much thankful to Women for Conservation and Birds Nepal for providing me this scholarship. I am very much motivated in conservation, especially preserving birdlife. After I got this scholarship, I was a top student on an exam."
