Happy September!

By Libby Henrickson | Administrative Assistant

Dear Donors,

Happy September! As a new school year begins, we would like to share some statistics about the importance of environmental education and the benefits it can have for both students and the Earth. At Women for Conservation, environmental education is a foundational pillar of our work. We believe that providing environmental education is like planting a seed which sprouts into a soaring, graceful tree of care and respect. It has the power to nurture deep connections with the planet and inspire environmentally conscious actions in everyday life.

Stanford researchers performed a review of 105 scientific studies on environmental education and its impacts on student’s behavior. Here are some of the things they found:

  • 87% of studies reported a change in behavior towards the environment after participating in environmental education. This could be something like having a more positive attitude towards a species that is negatively portrayed, like sharks. One study found that educating farmers on the harmful effects of pesticides resulted in less likelihood of using them.
  • 46% of studies found that environmental education involves positive environmental actions, like trees planted or pollinator gardens established.
  • 39% of studies reported that environmental education makes communities more prepared to address conservation problems. Students may also be more likely to pursue scientific or conservation based careers, helping to nurture our next generation of conservationists.

This is the impact your donation has on these Nepali students — opening doors to opportunities that have the power to change communities, and even the world, for good.

Thank YOU for your unwavering support of this project, Gift a Year of Elementary School to Nepal Children.

We cannot do this without you.

With deep gratitude,

The Women for Conservation Team.
