Each season, Distribute Aid organizes aid shipments to support displaced people by providing them with tents, sleeping bags, warm clothing, medicines and other emergency aid. Throughout the year we organize shipments to Americans without power and clean water after hurricane season, refugees living in European cities, and displaced civilians in Ukraine, Lebanon, and Gaza. Our last report covered the winter season. Since then, our work has been largely focused on preparing our partner organisations for the extreme heat that has become more common over the summer in Europe and in the US.

Since our last report, we have delivered aid to support refugees, asylum seekers, migrant, and houseless people in various locations in Europe, including Greece, Serbia, Bosnia, Ukraine, and France.

Hygiene items

One of our biggest achievements during this period was facilitating a large in-kind donation of brand new soap bars to various locations in Europe.

In total, we sent 130,000 bars of soap.

These will support people on the move and people sleeping rough. Hygiene items like soap are essential for quality of life and preventing the spread of some illnesses, especially in refugee settlements or squats where people have to live very closely together due to space constraints.

We also sent soap bars that will be distributed in Ukraine by our partners. These will go to hospitals and individuals where it’s been difficult to get a steady hygiene supply due to the war, or simply to reduce the financial burden of having to purchase these supplies.

Protective Gear

We also sent clothing, shoes, tarps, blankets, and tents, among other items to various countries in Europe. Protection from the elements is essential even in the summer, since many are forced to live outdoors with cold nights. Appropriate clothing to keep cool during the day is just as important, both fr comfort and to be able to access various services and jobs in cities. Our partners provide support to many, and thanks to a consistent donor of supplies in the UK we could facilitate the transport of things like:

  • Men’s underwear, trousers, socks, and thin summer jackets.
  • Women’s tops, shorts, shoes, underwear, and maternity clothes.
  • Children’s tops, shorts, shoes, underwear and baby blankets.
  • Backpacks, suitcases, towels.
  • Blankets, sleeping bags, tents and tarps.

We truly hope to keep this project going throughout the fall and winter this year. Help us fund the shipping cost by donating to the project!
