LRBT (Layton Rahmatulla Benevolent Trust) is a beacon of hope for thousands of children in Pakistan, particularly those who suffer from visual impairment. Our mission, deeply rooted in compassion and dedication, aims to bring light into the lives of those who are deprived of the gift of sight. Through our GlobalGiving Project, we have committed ourselves to giving sight to 10,000 children, thereby opening doors to endless possibilities and opportunities.
LRBT's impact extends far beyond the numbers. Every year, we treat a staggering 300,000 children across our 20 hospitals and 59 clinics. Our comprehensive approach not only includes surgeries and treatments but also focuses on preventive measures and community outreach. We conduct eye screenings in schools, ensuring early detection and intervention for visual disabilities. Moreover, our efforts extend to training teachers to identify and support children with visual impairments, fostering a more inclusive environment.
Mahnoor, a 7-year-old girl from Khanewal, Pakistan, embodies the transformative power of LRBT's work. Born into a humble farming family, Mahnoor faced a daunting challenge from birth - congenital cataracts in both eyes. Despite her condition, her family's financial constraints delayed her diagnosis and treatment until she was brought to the LRBT Korangi hospital at seven years of age.
Mahnoor's journey with LRBT was nothing short of miraculous. With the expertise of our medical team and the support of compassionate donors, Mahnoor underwent successful surgeries, restoring her sight. The impact was profound - Mahnoor could now envision a future filled with possibilities. She returned to school, her eyes sparkling with newfound hope and confidence. LRBT not only gave Mahnoor the gift of sight but also bestowed upon her a second chance at life - a chance to break free from the shackles of darkness and embrace a brighter future.
LRBT's commitment to restoring sight and transforming lives remains unwavering. Through our GlobalGiving Project, we continue to reach out to thousands of children like Mahnoor, offering them a glimmer of hope in the midst of darkness. As we strive to achieve our goal of giving sight to 10,000 children, we invite donors and supporters to join us in our mission. Together, we can make a profound difference in the lives of those who need it the most, one pair of eyes at a time.
