LRBT treats its 25 Millionth Patient- FazlurRehman

By Marium Kamran | Resource Development Manager

Fazlur Rehman - Our 25 Millionth Patient
Fazlur Rehman - Our 25 Millionth Patient

11 year old Fazlur Rehman was in the first grade when he lost his vision. He damaged his cornea while playing and required a corneal transplant to see again. However his father, Ghulam Mustafa, a factory worker earning just Rs.8000 a month and with five more children to feed was far too poor to afford the Rs. 100,000 being demanded by a private Doctor. Lost in darkness with no hope LRBT turned out to be Fazlur Rehman's salvation. He is just one of the 25 million patients treated at LRBT free of cost, which has only been possible by support of socially responsible individuals like yourself.

Inflation in Pakistan is at its peak and with the number of patients increasing in double digits every year, we seek your support to assist us in our fight against curable blindness in Pakistan. In year ending June 2013,over 2.2 million patients visited our OPDs and over 220,000 surgeries were performed in our 17 hospitals. We expect more than 2.3 million patients to visit our hospitals/clinic for free treatment costing us Rs. 600 million this year for which we need to raise funds. You have always supported our cause immensely, this year as well we need your support to create awareness amongst the masses; how their Zakat/ Donations can transform these blind & visually impaired individuals from a burden on the community to happy and productive income generating individuals. Year on year the numbers are becoming enormous so we seek help from you to help us help them.
