Thanks to your generous support, our health programs in schools around Kibale National Park in Uganda are making a lasting difference—especially for adolescent girls who face increased barriers to education.
Since 2015, our Reusable Menstrual Pad (RUMPs) initiative has equipped more than 4,800 girls and boys with both the skills to make reusable pads and vital education on puberty and reproductive health. Today, over 90% of girls in our schools report rarely or never missing school due to menstruation—a powerful testament to how our ongoing trainings support girls’ education.
These trainings happen in our after-school health clubs, which reach about 750 students each week. But the impact extends far beyond this. Through our Peer Educator program, health education reaches more than 9,000 students across our partner schools every year. This year, we trained 64 Peer Educators, alongside health club teachers and village health workers. Together, this “super team” is sparking conversations, sharing skills and knowledge, and empowering their classmates to make informed, healthy choices.
To make sure every student knows who to turn to, we also created posters in each school featuring Peer Educators’ photos—boosting their visibility and strengthening their role as trusted leaders in their schools.
Your continued support through GlobalGiving makes all of this possible. You are helping us deliver practical, life-changing health education and care to thousands of students in rural Uganda. Thank you for being a vital part of this journey!
