Meet Rhema, now a 19 year old with an 18 month old daughter named Cassie.
Rhema came to us as a pregnant 17 year old who had been abused by her uncle. After giving birth, Rhema joined our 12 month vocational skills program where she excelled in every area. After completing the course, Rhema shared the fact that her family did not wish her to return to their home and asked if she could remain with us and receive further training in cooking and other home economics.
We currently have four greenhouses and Rhema showed immediate talent for working with the plants, quickly understanding how to plant, fertilize and rotate the crop. She is often the first to arrive in the morning to work and the last to leave. Rhema has grown to be an asset to the agricultural program and has been managing her own greenhouse full-time. She has accepted an offer to be a part of our 12 month attachment program with a goal of becoming a paid full-time employee. She has earned, through hard work and perseverance, this opportunity to gain stable employment and housing for herself and her daughter. We are so proud of Rhema and all that she has accomplished. She now has hope for herself and her little girl.
