June 2025

Dear Supporters,

God’s Love Home wishes to thank you for your full support towards our cause of supporting the 60 children under our care. Just to remind you there are 30 in primary, 9 in post primary in GLV, 21 in GLS2, and numbers still with us but in employment (5) and 8 are around trying to learn sewing and tailoring as they threaten to go to Saudi for work as maids (very attractive yet potentially very dangerous).  You have helped feed, house,  deal with health issues and educate them.

List of Achievements

A-level students (Elizabeth, Cynthia and Olivious)  passed the S4 National exams well and have been fortunate in getting sponsorship for A level and learning is moving on very well. Two of these girls were the best in GLS2 and got sponsorship on this basis.  You will remember, 13 finished , all passed the S4 exams and have a certificate.  Increasingly this is the basic qualification for any work if given the opportunity to apply.  5 of them have been enrolled in supermarkets as attendants earning some little money.  The extreme good fortune of the three has threatened to be divisive.  We have explored openings but all have been too expensive. However, there are few girls who are in their own small business Allen and Irine – They run small shops and they are doing well – Most of these girls are dreaming of small business with a minimum of request of $100 so they can start Tomatoes, onions, green peppers, Food (Bananas) selling etc there are 7 with this vision.  Allen and Irene have employed two of the girls and they are working together to develop the business.

Registration for both primary seven and senior four students has been successfully done – There are 8 in numbers at s4 and 15 at p7

Masana Town council yearly runs netball and football competition for primary schools and there were 42 schools this time round. God’s Love School came number one on boys’ side and number 3 on girls winning a trophy. Great celebrations!! Headteacher Beatrice comments “We have shown them our true colours this time round”. We thank Beatrice for her dedication to boost games and sports. What pleased me was that kids  of the right age group played together however, there were older students who were placed in by other schools to win but still we challenged them.

On a sad note

An attempted child Abduction. Young girl of around 10 was abducted in the middle of the night (alas while the guard slept) for three hours and then returned unharmed. There was not any abuse which was good but then why the abduction. We have employed security group company to help around and so far, one unknown person who came at around 1: 20 am was arrested and is now in the hands of police. Hopefully we shall know the reason behind.

Prayers requests

a) I so value your support but in addition it would be marvellous if an organisation could fund us monthly

b) Health of the children

c) Good teaching at GLS

d) God's peace to dwell over GLH especially at night

e) Games uniforms for both girls and boys

  God bless you,  James
