Launched in September 2025, our non-profit project, "Give 1000 Rural Children an English Education," has been dedicated to providing quality English education to children in rural Liaoning province. Our team has been working diligently to bridge the educational gap between urban and rural areas in China.
School dropout rates in rural China have reached concerning levels. Studies indicate that in certain regions, the cumulative dropout rate for Rural Chinese Students can be as high as 50% . This alarming statistic underscores the challenges faced by rural communities in retaining students through to higher education.
Despite these challenges, and thanks to your unwavering support, we have witnessed numerous success stories. Many of our students have not only graduated from high school but have also pursued higher education.
One such inspiring story is that of Eric. Coming from a disadvantaged background, Eric and his mother approached our program with hopes of a better future. Concerned about the high local dropout rates and her son's prospects, she enrolled him in our programs. Through dedication and hard work, Eric recently graduated from high school and is now enrolled in a Chinese university. These are the moments that validate our mission.
As Pat McCarthy eloquently states:
“The most powerful moment is when a child from a rural village steps through our doors, battles against all odds to graduate high school, maybe even university, and then comes back, looks us in the eye, and says, ‘I did it.’ That one moment is worth everything.”
Your generous donations play a pivotal role in our success. They enable us to attract both local and international experts to areas where such expertise is scarce. Additionally, your support allows us to enhance our English education programs, ensuring that rural Chinese students have opportunities comparable to their urban counterparts. By improving English proficiency, we increase their chances of graduating from high school and pursuing further education.
The I Love Learning Education Centre serves as the philanthropic arm of the Ireland Sino Institute. It has supported 20,000 rural Chinese children in staying in school since 2012 through various educational and philanthropic initiatives. It is also a vetted organisation on GlobalGiving.
Thank you for being an integral part of this transformative journey.
