Menstrual Health Matters
Why it matters for GABA HOPE FOR KIDS
1. Education
- Girls miss 3-5 school days every month without pads, water, or private toilets
- Pain, stigma, and lack of supplies lead to dropout
- Staying in school helps girls learn, lead, and break the cycle of poverty
2. Health and Dignity
- Unhygienic materials increase risk of infections
- Lack of private, safe spaces affects confidence and wellbeing
- Every girl deserves to manage her period safely and with dignity
3. Barriers in Communities
- Cost of pads and underwear
- No clean water and private latrines in schools
- Silence, myths, and shame around periods
- Limited knowledge for both girls and boys
4. Educational Empowerment Approach
Supplies: Provide menstrual pads, underwear, and hygiene kits
WASH: Support schools with clean water, soap, and private toilets
Education: Age-appropriate sessions for girls and boys to end stigma
Teachers and Parents: Train them to support girls without shame
Track: Monitor attendance and retention after interventions
5. Impact
- More girls in class every day of the month
- Less dropout and better performance
- Healthier, more confident girls
- Communities that talk openly and support each other
Guiding Belief
