Varsha’s life story is one of the many inspiring accounts of hope and resilience in the face of adversity. Varsha’s mother was a sex worker in the red-light districts and desperately wanted a better life for her daughter. Her mother gave her in marriage at the tender age of 12 in an effort to avoid the same fate. Varsha had her first child at 15 and her husband left her and her daughter when she was only 18 years old.
With little prospects and still desperate to keep her daughter from the sex trade, her mother enrolled her in a vocational training school for women that you support! Determined to succeed, Varsha excelled in the tailoring course and was soon named the “Star Performer” of her class. This recognition inspired her to work even harder towards her goals. Varsha learned to tailor bags, which landed her a job at a bag manufacturing and export company. With the income from her job, Varsha can now provide for herself, her child, and her mother. Her newfound employment has brought financial stability to her family and hope for a brighter future.
Varsha's life could have taken a path all too familiar for the daughters of sex workers in red-light districts. She could have fallen victim to the same fate as her mother and countless others, trapped in the dark world of human trafficking. Thank you for giving her a way out through your support of our Vocational Training Center, where she was able to gain the skills and education needed to create a brighter future for herself. With your support, we can continue to provide opportunities for young women like Varsha, offering them a chance to break free from the cycle of poverty and exploitation.
