When families live in poverty, every member is affected. It can be hard for children to pay attention in school, if they can even afford it, and parents are constantly worried about basic needs.
Such was the case with Bhavani, a women who, even though she had studied up to 12th grade, could not find a job in her village. To make matters worse, her husband was an alcoholic who used much of his income on alcohol. Bhavani says she spent many days in tears, hoping for a way to provide for her family.
But everything changed once Bhavani had the chance to complete the tailoring school courses! She learned many types of stiches and even graduated with her very own sewing machine. Now, she makes up to 300 rupees a day, which is enough to feed her children, send them to school, and other basic needs! She is so thankful.
Bhavani's story is not unique -- there are many more women who cannot afford essentials because they don't have any source of income. When you donate to tailoring schools, you are giving these women the chance they need. Thank you!
