Thanks for providing a sewing machine to a woman in need

By John Sparks | President, India Partners

A sewing machine changes a life
A sewing machine changes a life

Dear Friend,

Your generous gift to provide a mom in India with a sewing machine has been life-changing. Thank you for your support and for empowering women to rise out of poverty.

There are 48 women who just graduated from the tailoring school. After graduating from the rigorous training, each woman received her very own sewing machine so she can start a tailoring business from home.  This project also just accepted it’s new class of women so there are 48 new students who are enrolled in the six-month course. They will spend the next few months learning how to sew and stitch.

In India, unemployment is very high, especially among women living in the rural areas. Many of these women are mothers who have struggled to find ways to support their families. Often times women living in poverty are uneducated and earn little to no wages.  With a valuable skill like sewing, these mothers and wives now have an opportunity to provide a good income for themselves and their families.

Your gift is helping women like Matta.

Matta was so excited when she got a spot in the tailoring school. She was in deep financial trouble with no way to support her family. When she heard about India Partners’ tailoring school she was eager to get in—and she did!

Matta graduated after six months of training and learning. Your gifts helped Matta receive her very own sewing machine. With the skills she has learned, Matta is now able to sew clothes for the people in her village.

She earns an income that is enough to support her family’s needs and is very grateful for the support of donors like you.

“I have peace in my heart because you gave me hope to support my family,” says Matta.

Today, Matta is happily stitching clothes for her family and her customers. Thank you for giving her a chance to succeed! Your gift has made a big impact in not only her life but in the life of others as well.

Sincerely,

John Sparks
